NITROUS OXIDE SEDATION
Nitrous oxide, better know as “laughing gas,” is one of the safest anesthetics available. It is a colorless non-flammable gas with a pleasant, slightly sweet odor and taste. It is used for patients that are not to comfortable and are nervous while being treated.

How does Nitrous Oxide work during a visit?

The gas is administered with a comfortable mask placed over the nose. You will be instructed to breathe in through the nose and out through your mouth. As breathing continues, a pleasant level of sedation should begin in approximately 5 minutes.
Once the patient is relaxed enough, treatment can begin. Shortly after the treatment is done, pure oxygen is given to breathe in for about 5 minutes to reverse the effects of the nitrous oxide.
During your whole visit under nitrous oxide, we will be by your side, making sure everything is fine.
The effect of nitrous oxide is often remarkable. If you are nervous before or during dental treatment, ask us if nitrous would be right for you.
